Get to know your advisor before you need help! Your assigned advisor will likely be your primary contact person for academic information and advice while you are at the University. Your advisor knows your academic requirements and is committed to helping you move toward your career goals. Your advisor can provide information about graduate schools, internships, career opportunities, and job availability in your chosen area of study.

The advising session for continuing students occurs in March for Summer/Fall and in October for Spring. During this time advisors are available for advising for these semesters. After pre-registration week advising session, advisors are available, by appointment only, until the last day of classes for the semester. Advising sessions may differ among departments.

Advising during the intersession period for transfer and reentry students is done in the major department or Dean's office. If advisors are not available in the major department or Dean's office, transfer and reentry students with 45 hours or less may come to the Academic Success Center, 115 Lee Hall for assistance. Continuing students who did not take advantage of the pre-registration advising session must wait until advisors return to the department at the beginning of the semester.

The Advisor Handbook (PDF) is published by the Academic Success Center to provide Academic Advisors with current procedures and resources for successful academic advising of students.

The Advisor Locator List is a directory of all academic majors with locations and phone numbers for contacting advisors in each department. As an alternative, students can find advisor information via the STUDENT TAB on ULink.

Following interim grades, at risk students receive Early Warning Counseling in the Academic Success Center.

The Resource and Referral Guide for Advisors and Students (PDF) and the Student Guide to Academic Procedures and Resources (PDF) can be used as resources by both the advisors and students.

The Advisor Training Calendar (TBA in August) provides Academic Advisors with upcoming advisor information. Online Trainings are also now available for Academic Advisors.
