Academic Skills (ACSK) Courses

ACSK 100: Academic Skills
 
A two credit course designed to assist students with the transition from high school to college. Students learn about study skills, campus resources, time management, goal setting, career planning, money management, and more.
 
ACSK 140: Career Decision-Making
 
A one credit, half semester course that helps students choose a major and also helps with career development. Students will examine their interests, values, skills and personality characteristics by participation in self-assessment exercises and testing. Students will gather information about career options and evaluate the pros and cons of different occupations as they may relate to their personal choices and career goals. Students will learn the importance of school involvement, part-time and summer jobs, internships, volunteer work, professional organizations, resume writing and networking as early strategies in their career decision-making.
